18th Century Country French Walnut Buffet is of a breed that is getting more rare with each passing day!  Hand-crafted from indigenous old-growth walnut, prized the world over for its quality and beauty, the rural artisans used time-honored cabinetmaking techniques handed down from generation after generation.  Mortise & tenon joinery was used throughout, anchored with square pegs as lathes were not available so dowels had to be chiseled.  The graceful scrollwork of the cabinet door framework immediately jumps out, with the sumptuous chamfered panel exuding naturalistic beauty.  A fluted stile separates the two door panels, but is affixed to the left door to allow unfettered access to the voluminous storage within.  Exquisite steel ferrures or key guards are used on the doors and drawers above, which have been adorned with a tailored outline.  Scrolled apron below continues on each side for visual appeal from all angles.  The piece de resistance?  An inlaid Star of Bethlehem appears between the drawers and a wildflower bouquet centered on the apron directly below, utilizing burl wood and satinwood for contrast.
