Early 19th Century Directoire Period Cherry Wood Low Buffet ~ Credenza was hand-crafted using techniques handed down from generation to generation.  Selecting old-growth cherry wood, the artisans crafted a tailored casework that relies on the sheer natural beauty of the woods used as opposed to carved detail.  Straight, rectilinear lines dominate the facade on all sides, with the three cabinet doors creating a framework for inlaid compass roses using lime wood and olive wood to create the instantly recognized mariner's symbol.  Brass barrel hinges and key guards are the only mounts onto the wood, and the entire facade is framed by rounded, fluted corner posts that terminate in elegantly tapered legs.  The half-bullnose bevel on the framework and planks of the top surface follows the contours of the rounded corners for a nice, subtle design touch.
