Rustic 19th Century Dutch Silver Chest ~ Linen Press is an excellent example of rural craftsmanship as practiced outside the city centers of Holland over the past several centuries.  Designed to hold a family's silver and fine dining linens, it would be placed near the family table for easy access, and for all to appreciate.  The pyramidal and geometric forms provide an interesting facade design, outlining the eight drawers and two spacious cabinets that were designed for maximum organizational efficiency.  Rendered from dense, old-growth indigenous oak, it has been fitted with brass door hinges, swivel pulls, and pendant style drawer pulls that add a nice visual touch.  Note the splayed bun feet all around for extra sturdy support.  Backing was relatively recently replaced, unseen from the front.
