18th Century French Louis XVI Commode is a magnificent example of the genre, meticulously hand-crafted by master artisans in the neoclassical revival style from dense, old-growth oak.  The tailored rectilinear architecture recalls the glory years of ancient Greece & Rome, from the complex multi-tiered molding detail on the top to the four tapered and carved legs below.  In between, three drawers with three panels each are carved with exceptional relief renditions of oak leaves with acorns, and the original cast bronze pulls that exhibit jewelry-quality detail with classical figures, urns and garlands.  The drawers are flanked by the rounded corner posts, carved with fascia and olive branches in relief, leading the eye down to the full width carvings on the apron below, mixing a colonnade style fluting with pyramidal plinths.  Capacious storage in style!
