18th Century Liègeois Louis XVI Period Stripped Oak Commode is exceptional in its elegant neoclassical style.  Crafted in solid oak, the stripped finish reveals the natural beauty of the wood grain while preserving the warmth, patina, and character of an authentic 18th century piece.
The hand-carved drawer fronts create a beautiful balance of romance and architecture, with delicate rope borders, oval escutcheons, brass pulls, and graceful foliate scrollwork.  The neoclassical design gives the commode a refined sense of order, while the carved detail softens the façade with movement and artistry.  Each drawer is framed with molded panels, creating a stately rhythm across the front and emphasizing the exceptional craftsmanship of the Liège region.
Resting on tapered legs with shaped feet, the commode carries the quiet grace of 18th century craftsmanship, where every carved detail was meant to be both beautiful and enduring.  Its low, broad appearance belies its larger than normal size, and gives the piece an elegant architectural presence, while the softly stripped oak and hand-carved neoclassical ornament create a warm, romantic character that feels collected, refined, and deeply rooted in history.
