19th Century Country French Louis XIV Commode is a classic representation of the genre, crafted by master artisans from the finest materials to last for generations!  Old-growth oak was hand-selected to create the to, which features a double-beveled edge and a subtle bowed front to follow the contour of the casework below.  Three full width drawers open to reveal substantial storage.  The facade is adorned with carved cornerposts that lead the eye down to the boldly scrolled and carved legs, and provide a framework for the three drawers and apron between.  Each drawer is centered with a quatrefoil form surrounding the brass key guard, with recessed panels flanking each side carved with shell and bell flower designs.  The apron continues the shell theme with an arbalette form named after the archer's bow, carved with shell and rosettes for a beautiful finishing touch!  Note the pegged mortise & tenon and dovetail joinery, visible especially on the back side.
