19th Century French Louis XIV Stripped Oak Commode is a tailored, slightly rustic expression of the style, but made with a definitive architecture that is truly timeless.  The beveled top follows the contours of the casework below which include mitered corners and a subtle arbalette form on the drawer facade.  The form was reminiscent of an archer's bow, and remains popular to this day.  The drawers exhibit the only carved embellishment, with interesting scrollwork expressed in raised molding defining the forms and encircling the finely cast brass key guards.  Cast brass pulls add an attractive and functional accent.  An undulating apron surrounds the piece, with bold bun feet providing support.  Three massive drawers open to provide amazing storage.  Note the hand-crafted pegged mortise & tenon joinery used throughout, even on the chamfered panels of the back side.  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
