Antique Country French Commode ~ Chest of Drawers in Stripped Oak is a particularly refined design, stylistically inspired by the inspirations from the court of Louis XIV, and rendered from dense, old-growth oak with a certain finesse no longer found in modern furniture.  The solid oak plank top and side panels create a sturdy casework, with finely molded chamfered panels on each side, and an asymmetrical molded apron stylistically joining the back legs to the front, which feature acanthus flourishes and cloven hoof feet.  Spanning across the front is an elegantly scrolled apron with four different acanthus designs.  The rounded cornerposts with their own special molded detail and carved embellishment provide a framework for the showcase of the piece, which consists of the three drawer facades, each a work of the cabinetmaker's art!  Elegant architecturally inspired scrollwork combines with naturalistic flourishes to create a symmetrical design, accentuated by cast brass pulls and key guards for a regal touch.  The natural beauty and patina of the old-growth wood has been revealed by our expert in-house professionals using our proprietary stripping process.
