A refined 19th century French walnut petit commode fashioned in the graceful Louis XV tradition. Its beautifully carved drawer fronts, shapely apron and cabriole legs give this diminutive chest remarkable decorative presence.
Hand-crafted from walnut, the commode features three useful drawers framed by molded borders and embellished with hand-carved shell, floral and foliate motifs. Decorative brass bale pulls complement the warm patina of the wood, while slender corner pilasters visually lengthen the case.
The lower apron is sculpted into a rhythmic serpentine form centered by a carved floral medallion. Graceful cabriole legs complete the composition, their carved knees and delicate feet lending the lightness and movement associated with Louis XV design. Its narrow proportions make it an appealing bedside commode or small storage chest.
