Vintage Italian Marquetry Serving Tray with Brass Rail

Vintage Italian Marquetry Serving Tray with Brass Rail was artfully crafted by talented artisans using satinwood, olive wood and walnut inlaid into a mahogany background to create an image of a floral bouquet surrounded by an intricate foliate border.  The tray takes a classic violin shape, and is fitted with a pierced brass rail all around to help keep things situated on the tray, as well as convenient brass handles on each end.  It is amazing how the different species of wood are meticulously cut and accentuated with heat to create lines and color/hue variations yet leave a completely flat surface for the tray's serving purposes.  Truly a decorative masterpiece!
