19th Century Country French End Table ~ Petite Console is a charming example of rural craftsmanship, with a modicum of hand-carved sculpting appearing on the drawer facade and undulating apron just for accent!  The remainder of the piece is no-nonsense, solid construction utilizing pegged mortise & tenon joinery, with turned front legs, a full width shelf below supported by a scrolled, yet tailored apron on all three sides, in turn supported by subtly scrolled legs carved with upturned acanthus plumes and cloven hoof feet.  Back to the drawer above, which opens to reveal convenient storage, we see undeniably French molded detail around the perimeter and encircling the brass knob, accentuated with wildflower motifs on each side.  Hand-crafted with pride to last for generations out of solid old-growth oak and indigenous chestnut.
