19th Century French Louis XIV Walnut End Table

19th Century French Louis XIV Walnut End Table is a marvelous blend of the sculptor's art and the cabinetmaker's expertise!  The top consists of quartered panels of burl walnut surrounded by an inlaid border then an exterior framework with oriented grain, edged with a double bevel.  Underneath the top is a splendid work of art that also happens to function as the table support!  Pierce-carved aprons all around depict crest and foliate sprays.  On each corner is a rectangular rosette appearing above each of four elegantly scrolled legs that have been carved with acanthus plumes, floral garlands and escargot feet.  Each leg is also connected with crossed, scrolled stretchers centered with a stylized pine cone finial.
