19th Century French Louis XV Marble Top Giltwood End Table is a prime example of fine French furniture craftsmanship!  Sculpted from fine fruitwood, it features the graceful, naturalistic form of the style with the only straight line being the surface of the elegant Carrara marble top.  All other lines are elegantly scrolled, including the violin-shaped top with three tiers of edge molding, the aprons bowed on all sides and contoured at the bottom, the classic cabriole legs that curve and taper down to the leg tips carved with upturned acanthus plumes, all connected with scrolled and bowed stretchers centered with a Rococo-inspired shell motif facing both sides.  The shoulders of the cabriole legs are lavished with acanthus plumes in the form of a fleur de lys, with floral and foliates emanating from below, providing a framework for the aprons carved with asymmetrical shell and floral sprays in bold relief.  The entire piece is enhanced with the gold finish that has achieved a lovely distressed patina over the decades, only adding to the allure!
