19th Century French Louis XVI Painted End Table ~ Gueridon is a remarkable work of the sculptor's art!  The only portion of the table that is not exquisitely hand-carved is the circular top, creating a surface ideal for a lamp table, a cozy seating group, or perhaps a pedestal for a sculpture or objet d'art.  Th edge around the round top is an amazing piece of work with a beaded trim adjacent to an elaborate Greek coin pattern lavished with rosettes in the "coins" and foliates between them, completely encircling the round top.  The apron is the next feature to amaze the visual senses, with a completely pierce-carved design depicting laurel sprays with berries flanking a heraldic crest.  Egg & dart bordering frames the pierce carving above and below, interrupted only by the four leg attachments embellished with full relief rosettes and appearing above the legs which are carved with a floral petal collar on top of acanthus plumes overlooking tapered and fluted legs that are rejoined together with yet another amazing work of sculpture in the stretcher design, which features quatrefoil overlay topped with floral sprays connected to a Grecian urn with flame finial.  Teardrop shaped feet with lotus petals complete the look.  The painted finish remains in impeccable condition with subtle signs of patina that highlight the carving and add to the visual display.
