19th Century French Napoleon III Period Neoclassical Painted Music Stand is a masterpiece of the cabinetmaker's art!  A stunning wreath of roses has been carved into the backsplash crown in full relief, beautifully molded out to the cornerposts from which rails project towards the front, carved with Greek coin rosettes and finished with a corbel.  And that's just the top!  The sides are mounted with finely molded fluted pilasters in the back, and tapered & fluted columns in the front which provide a framework for the upper panels on each side which consist of framed Aubusson tapestry.  Between the columns are vertical dividers designed for sheet music with one full-width horizontal cubby below that.  And that's just the upper tier!  The lower tier begins with a full width drawer, and the same pilaster~column arrangement framing finely molded raised panels on each side.  The columns are topped with Ionic capitals and frame vertical dividers and two full-width horizontal cubby holes.  The entire affair is supported by four tapered and fluted legs, and has been given a painted finish that has achieved a lovely patina over the past century.  An excellent choice in a narrow niche, as a conversation piece, or even as a bedside companion!
