19th Century Italian Louis XVI Oval Marble Top End Table continues the centuries-old tradition of classical architecture that emerged in ancient Greece, and continued by the Romans and every European civilization since!  The oval shape is the most traffic-friendly design extant, and this example features an apron encircled with Greek coin carvings, punctuated by the four fluted column supports carved with wheat in the recesses of the flutes at the top.  The supports lead the eye to the oval lower shelf, fitted with cane and bordered with beaded and dashed trim.  Subtly scrolled legs are carved with acanthus plumes.  To top it off, a luxuriously veined, richly colored sample of beautiful Italian marble, of course!
