Antique French Directoire Style Bouillotte Side Table with Carrara Marble is perfect for a cozy seating group with a carefree yet elegant marble top that allows one to place cold drinks or other such items that would cause problems with all-wooden tables, and clean up any mess with the swipe of a damp paper towel!  Cleverly, the design includes a pierced gallery rail all around the circular marble to help keep things in place, making it also great as a lamp table, a side table, or for any occasion.  Crafted from fine imported mahogany, it features brass tips on the feet of the tapered and fluted legs, which have been painted the same golden brass color as a collar and inside the flutes as accents.  The richness of the wood contrasts wonderfully with the alabaster white and very light gray coloration of the highly prized marble from Carrara, the source of world famous sculptors for centuries.  The Bouillotte reference comes from an 18th-century French gambling card game of the Revolution based on Brelan, very popular during the 19th century in France and again for some years from 1830.  Also popular in America, the table design was quickly adopted to a variety of sizes and styles, being eminently suited for multiple tasks and purposes all around the home!
