Antique French Louis XVI Marble Top Round End Table ~ Gueridon was fashioned from maple and mahogany, then adorned with bronze, brass and Carrara marble for a stunning combination in a diminutive package!  The marble top with its subtle gray veining makes for an elegant yet carefree top, especially considering the pierced brass rail that protects the edge of the stone and provides a short fence to keep things in place on the top of the table.  Cast brass acanthus leaves also appear on the shoulders of the three legs, with castings protecting the feet below.  The lower shelf serves the purpose of a convenient surface as well as adding structural strength to the design, and is wrapped in cast brass embellishment that also happens to protect the edging.  The undulating form of the apron above is outlined in maple inlay bordering, and the single drawer is fitted with a cast brass pull.  Form and function in an elegant package that is not too fussy!
