19th Century French Henri II Neoclassical Walnut Armoire is a masterpiece of the cabinetmaker's art, rendered in sumptuous select French walnut for beauty that will transcend the centuries!  A combination of neoclassical architectural features boldly molded Grecian arches providing an impressive crown on a subtle step-front feature, with slightly recessed side compartments integral to the casework design.  The boldly molded crown overlooks a bonnet carved with a crest dated 1873, flanked by Greek coin carved with floral rosettes.  Pilasters separate the aforementioned step-front architectural feature from the side compartments, delineated by rectangular rosettes on the bonnet, pyramidal rosettes just underneath, with fletching carved into the top of the pilasters leading the eye down to barley twist columns flanking the full-length beveled mirror, which then transition to fluted bases atop corbels carved with acanthus plumes.  Each side compartment flanking the beveled mirror is lavished with stylized shell and foliate motifs, and the mirror itself has an arched upper portion leaving room for more carved detail in the door's corners.  Partway down the mirror bronze mounts have been placed into which intricately cast bronze candle holders can be placed such that they swivel and can be easily removed to clean off errant wax drippings.  Such a convenience was a feature only of the most luxurious furnishings, and recalls the days prior to electric lighting.  The mirrored door opens to reveal a cavernous interior fitted with no less than 5 adjustable shelves and a floor for exceptional storage options and accommodations.  Below are three drawers that provide extra storage, finely molded and the center of which carved with Greek coin & floral rosettes to complement the bonnet above.  Six finely turned bun feet provide support.
