19th Century French Louis XVI Neoclassical Painted Armoire ~ Wardrobe defines the neoclassical revival during the Belle Epoque to a fantastic degree of artistry!  The stately architecture inspired by ancient Greek and Roman masters is evident in the rectilinear form, emphasized by a boldly molded crown and bonnet carved with repeating Greek coin motif, with the "coins" carved as rosettes on a foliate background, all by hand.  On each rounded corner appears a fully rendered rosette, each difficult to carve on such a curved surface, with all moldings continuing down the sides all the way to the wall.  Two full length beveled mirrors are framed by the doors, with tailored molding accented with a pair of small round rosettes at the top, and bracketed by the rounded cornerposts carved to depict banded wheat all the way down to the base.  The base features the same rosette theme carved on the rounded corner, providing a framework for the full width drawer which is embellished with ribbon and a laurel swag with berries.  Tapered, fluted and carved feet complete the external structure.  The original painted finish has achieved a lovely muted color and patina over the past century and a quarter.  Doors affixed with subtle cast brass key guards open to reveal a well-designed interior fitted with shelves, a lower partition, hanging rod and lots of organizational options, including a full width interior drawer that augments the aforementioned exterior drawer.  The perfect addition to any room, as a beautifully styled extension of your closet that also happens to provide ambient light reflection into the room's space as well as a full-length dressing mirror!
