19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Armoire ~ Wardrobe is a splendid combination of style, form and function!  The full length hand-beveled mirror on the door provides a lovely reflection of your room and serves as a great dressing mirror.  The door opens to reveal multiple original adjustable shelves and an interior drawer for discreet storage.  Flanking the door are what appears to be six drawers on each rounded side, when in fact they are cabinets that open up for more shelved storage inside, much more efficient than drawers would be.  Above the drawers is a small surface, with two additional shelf surfaces above that, separated by caned panels and fitted with rims to keep things in place.  The piece was hand-crafted from imported mahogany, then elegantly carved to reflect the neoclassical revival style, and finally painted in an ivory white that has achieved a lovely patina over the past century.  The apron below features subtle scrolls and carved details, and is supported by scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes.  The cabinet doors on each side of the mirror are designed to look like six drawers with six bronze bale pulls all on the rounded facade.  Subtle carved detail appears on the door surrounding the large mirror at the base.  Fine molded detail surrounds the upper shelving, with the crowning glory being the arched bonnet carved with acanthus scrolls, florals, and a gardening sculpture at the center top which depicts gardening tools, a hat, and horn, all in deference to the Queen who was an ardent admirer of formal gardens.
