19th Century French Louis XVI Rosewood Armoire was created during the Belle Epoque and represents the pinnacle of furniture craftsmanship from the period.  Only the finest furniture makers could afford to purchase exotic rosewood shipped from the Americas, and evidence of their mastery of the craft is abundant throughout this magnificent example!  The arched crown is enhanced with fluting and egg & dart trim, and centered with a stunning heraldic crest with anagram flanked by floral sprays, all rendered from solid rosewood.  Flanking the centerpiece on each corner are incredibly detailed finials, also carved from solid rosewood, depicting Grecian urns with acanthus plume motif.  The full length door below follows the arched contour on top and is fitted with a full length beveled mirror to provide a lovely reflection of your room.  The door opens to reveal an all-original interior with adjustable shelves and an interior drawer.  Note even the back panels and the backing that protects the silvering on the mirror are all finely molded ~ a sure sign of quality craftsmanship.  Flanking the door are two incredible columns set in their own corner niches, with spiral fluting, acanthus plumes, straight fluting on the tapered upper section with wheat in the grooves at top, and a capital with egg motif appearing just underneath the frame's rosettes that separate the columns from the aforementioned finials.  The base below also features rectangular rosettes facing front and to the sides creating a framework for the tailored raised panel of the base which is adorned with a full relief sculpture of the timeless torch and quiver of arrows symbolizing the longevity and power of the French state.  A finely formed apron with Grecian pediment topped with three laurel leaves flanked by tapered feet with foliate plumes completes the look.
