PAIR 19th Century French Louis XVI Armoires are truly an amazing find!  Hand-crafted from solid old-growth oak, each features timeless neoclassical styling inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece & Rome.  The subtly arched and stepped-out center section is topped with a foliate flourish, with finely molded and paneled bonnet leading the eyes to the sides, slightly recessed for visual appeal, and topped on the corner with a rosette.  Below the sides are fluted pilasters that frame the door fitted with a full length mirror that is overlaid with exquisite bell flower garlands and swags.  Below the door is a wide exterior drawer mounted with brass key guard and pulls.  The base mirrors the stepped-out design of the bonnet, accentuated by rectangular rosettes appearing above each of the tapered and fluted legs.  Doors both open wide to reveal a hanging rod on one, and multiple shelves in the other creating a wealth of storage opportunities, especially with the relatively deep design perfect for accommodating hanging clothes.  Even the sides received the designer's attentions, with rosettes, fine molding, fluting and beautifully framed panels.
