19th Century French Louis XIV Marble Top Whitewashed Buffet is a remarkable work of art worthy of the finest traditions in French cabinetry and craftsmanship!  Rendered from dense, old-growth French white oak which is harder and more durable than walnut, it features intricate, finely carved detail across the entire facade.  Paneled sides transition into the rounded cornerposts, which are carved with stylized shell, floral and foliate motifs.  On the main face, Three contoured doors and two columns of three drawers each provide ample stylistic touches as well as copious storage within.  Brass external hinges mount the doors, with elaborately detailed bale pulls on each of the six drawers.  The drawers are slightly recessed, with the surrounding doors projecting out a bit into the room to provide amazing three dimensional visual appeal.  The elaborately carved apron below follows the contours of the case, and is festooned with shell, floral and foliate motifs that complement the carvings on the cabinet doors, and is finished with four boldly scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes, escargots, and cloven hooves.  As a crowning touch, beautifully veined marble has been contoured to follow the intricate casework below, and features expert double beveling to create the ultimate in carefree elegance!
