19th Century French Louis XVI Mahogany Buffet with Carrara Marble was hand-crafted from solid, exotic imported mahogany which has been highly prized as a furniture wood for centuries!  The stately architecture of the design combined with subtle accents create a restrained version of the genre, influenced by the tailored lines of the Directoire period for a truly timeless look.  The casework consists of a step front design, with protruding rounded corners that are fluted for a column effect.  The center two cabinets step out a bit and are framed by turned, fluted and carved columns.  All of the casework's form is followed by the luxuriously veined Carrara marble top, beveled all around to create an elegant yet carefree surface.  Just under the marble is a tier of four drawers, each outlined in cast brass egg & dart trim and centered with a ring pull with rosette guard.  The cabinet doors below are also of a simplistic design with the same brass trim but with more elaborate neoclassical-inspired key guards in solid brass.  Below, brass collars and foot tips embellish the tapered and fluted legs.  Drawers and cabinets open to reveal cavernous storage, with the cabinets fitted with adjustable shelves boasting inlaid edges as a special finishing touch.
