19th Century French Walnut Louis XVI Marble Top Display Buffet is a wonderful example of the pinnacle of fine cabinetmaking for which the French have been famous for centuries!  Using sumptuous indigenous walnut, a neoclassical architecture was employed which includes a bold base molding supported by tapered and fluted legs, above which appear four fluted and reeded pilasters that separate the display doors in the center from the side segments, and define the boundary from which the rounded sides gracefully arc back to the rear, all trimmed in exceptional hand-carved molding.  The center doors house their original beveled glass panes, as well as a glass shelf within, all enhanced by the same attention to molded detail, as well as bronze key guards which are also used on the flanking solid cabinets.  Spiral ribbon carving adorns the astragal between the center doors.  The aforementioned side panel doors cover two thirds of the cabinet and are adorned with laurel wreath and sprays held with ribbon, all carved in full relief and framed with the accordant molding.  Above the panels appear two drawers on each side fitted with cast bronze bale pulls and key guards.  Naturally a superlative piece of luxuriously veined marble was selected, contoured to follow the casework below, and edged with a cove bevel for the perfect finishing touch!
