19th Century Liegoise Louis XIV Step Front Buffet is a stunning example of the superlative craftsmanship for which the region is known for the past several centuries!  Created form solid quarter-sawn oak, it features a step-front design and exquisite architecture on all sides for visual appeal from any angle.  The top features several tiers of molding that meticulously follows the contours of the casework below.  The top tier consists of three drawers, each festooned with elaborate bas relief carvings and a simple inset brass key guard at center, designed for a clean look and use of a key as a pull.  The casework features rounded and mitered outer cornerposts, and concave curves on the step-front center section which houses the center drawer and bombe-shaped door.  All three doors are lavished with cross hatching, acanthus flourishes, bold shells and intricately molded scrollwork.  The base is a massive combination of scrolled apron and lion's paw foot motif for a decidedly masculine effect.  Doors and drawers all open to reveal cavernous storage inside.
