Antique Liegoise Louis XIV Buffet is a splendid example of the superior quality and craftsmanship for which the region has been known for centuries! Utilizing old-growth oak, the casework was designed with rounded corners and a step-front center section with a subtle bowed shape. The beveled top follows the contours of the casework below, and just underneath appear three drawers tastefully carved with floral motifs and a subtly scrolled bordering. Each drawer is fitted with a cast bronze key guard for a clean, uncluttered look. The cornerposts are not only rounded, but carved with exquisite corbels on top and a flared and multi-tiered base molding carved with a foliate rendition of the fleur de lys. Each cabinet door is a study in symmetrical naturalistic artistry, with a gently arched framework and multiple tiers of panels defined with molded detail and enhanced with stylized shell, foliate and floral motifs with a touch of cross hatching in the corners. The base follows the motif with cross hatching, scrollwork, shell and foliate flourishes for a bold support platform. Original bronze key guards on the doors only add to the appeal!
