Mid Century French Louis XVI Neoclassical Flame Mahogany Buffet ~ Credenza with Carrara Marble is a classical feast for the eyes!  One immediately notices the exotic flame mahogany veneer front displayed across the four drawer and four cabinet facades.  The sublime wood is accentuated by ring pulls on the drawers, embossed key guards on the center doors, and brass molding trim, including four grooved capital mounts across the drawer tier.  Cast brass Ionic capitals appear atop the tapered legs all around, which have also been fitted with brass tips on the feet.  Open the doors and drawers and you can feel the quality of construction, then be amazed at the pristine condition of the all original interior.  What else but luxuriously veined Carrara marble to produce the fitting surface for such a work of the cabinetmaker's art?  Perfect as a credenza or buffet, it was meticulously hand-crafted by SIMAT which stands for Societe Industrielle des Meubles d'Art de Touraine.  The storied region on the Loire includes Rouen, northwest of Paris.
