19th Century Dutch Neoclassical Chest of Drawers with Burl Walnut is an unusual example produced by master cabinetmakers using pine for the casework and exquisitely figured walnut and burl walnut veneers for an outer facade.  The spacious top with beveled edge overlooks the four drawers, the topmost of which is slightly deeper than the rest, in accordance with the architecture of the style form.  All four drawers are richly veneered with straight grain in a diamond-form orientation on the topmost drawer, and bookmatched burl figure on the remaining three lower drawers.  All drawers are also centered with highly detailed hand-cast brass bale pulls for easy access, and all are framed by corner pilasters that include corbels, fluting and pyramidal plingh blocks.  Bun feet complete the look.  Note the hand-hewn chamfered plank back!
