19th Century French Louis XV Bombe Marble Top Marquetry Commode is a marvelous representation of the genre, exhibiting the talents of four master artisans!  First, the cabinetmaker was obliged to create a casework where the only straight lines appear on the back side.  The complex geometry and angular joinery required boggles the mind.  Next, the specialist applies veneers and inlays to create artistic renderings of floral and foliate motifs on all three sides, made more difficult by the continuous curves of the casework.  Then, a metal smith fashioned cast bronze ornamentation to protect the feet and shoulders of the legs, as well as dress up the apron and key guards, and also provide pulls for the drawers in style!  Lastly, the stone mason cut a finely veined marble slab to follow the complex contours of the casework, then applied a bevel to the edge to make its beauty last for generations!  The size of this particular choice is ideal for a very wide range of applications, as well!
