Antique French Louis XIV Marble Top Marquetry Bombe Commode is one of the more remarkable examples we've seen in recent years, featuring a very subtle curvaceousness combined with exquisitely cast bronze mounts to make a keepsake that would make the Sun King proud!  The subtle contours of the casework are mimicked in the beveled marble top which provides the perfect carefree surface.  On each side we see mahogany veneer leading the eye to the elegantly scrolled protruding corners that are lavished with bronze mounts on the shoulders and feet.  The corners frame the front facade which has the most eye-catching visual effects, with a background of radiant sunburst mahogany into which a circular burl medallion has been inlaid which in turn boasts rose blossoms, leaves and stems executed with remarkable lifelike detail in satinwood and olive wood.  Surrounding the medallion are finely cast bronze pulls and a multiple-sectioned bordering that must be closely examined to be fully appreciated, encompassing the keyhole on the top drawer and continuing all around the facade, all executed in solid bronze.
