Antique French Louis XIV Serpentine Commode ~ Cabinet is a marvelous example of fine cabinetmaking!  The casework is a superlative example of architecture, with serpentine sides and a bowed front creating only a single flat surface in the design being the top itself, which has been contoured and beveled to follow the complex lines of the casework below.  Starting at the back corners, each side gracefully scrolls towards the front and is fitted with a door perfectly contoured to fit, then lavished with stylized shell, floral and foliate carvings in glorious full relief.  Heavy brass key guards and hinges add a nice touch, and are complemented by the elaborately cast drawer pulls at the very front.  Cabinet doors open to reveal a modicum of storage on each side, but the main body is devoted to the three full width drawers, each magnificently carved with complementary motifs, and accented by the undulating, finely carved aprons below which are supported by carved and scrolled legs.  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary non-petrochemical process to retain the natural beauty and patina of the beautiful old-growth European oak.
