Antique French Louis XVI Marble Top Marquetry Commode is yet another example of the fine craftsmanship we've come to admire from French artisans!  The rectilinear casework is enhanced by rounded corners in front that feature trompe l'oeil fluting achieved by clever inlay work.  The shoulders are embellished with exquisitely cast bronze classical ormolu mounts, and the sumptuously veined marble top above follows the contour of the rounded corners, all with a cove bevel on the perimeter for a carefree yet opulent surface.  Each side features oriented grain veneer panels framed by inlaid bordering and a panel with gallery effect also executed in marquetry that continues around the entire top drawer facade.  The lower two drawers complement the sides with oriented grain panels framed by double inlaid bordering.  Beautiful cast bronze pull guards with ring pulls provide easy access, with lovely cast bronze key guards finishing the facade.  Four tapered legs with brass collars and brass tips complete the affair.
