Antique French Louis XVI Marquetry Marble Top Commode

Antique French Louis XVI Marquetry Marble Top Commode is a splendid example of artistry in craftsmanship!  Intricate veneering on the sides and front is made even more alluring with the inlay of bordering and a cherubic figure surrounded by an oval inlaid frame with ribbon.  The herringbone arrangement of the mahogany veneer provides wonderful visual interest.  Gracefully yet subtly scrolled legs provide support, and are tipped in front with bronze feet which match the mounts at the top of the cornerposts, the keyguard, ring pulls and finally the foliate casting on the apron.  Topped with gray veined marble contoured to follow the casework below, it will make a charming addition to any room!
