Antique Italian Painted Commode with Faux Painted Marble Top hails from the master artisans of Torino ~ called Turin through the ages ~ with its origins in the 3rd century BC.  This example is a product of the neoclassic revival of which there have been hundreds since the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.  An intriguing geometric form constitutes the design of the facade, mirrored in the top and baseboard below, which is set upon stylized wing feet.  Brass knobs provide easy access to the four spacious drawers.  However, it's the painted finish that steals the show!  Exquisite bordering, highlighted trim molding and floral sprays and bouquets appear on the drawers and on each side for visual appeal that cannot be denied.  The top appears to be marble, but is in fact faux painted so realistically one has to look closely to realize it's not stone!
