Location: Dallas
Handsome early 19th century English oak chest of drawers, beautifully handmade in the Jacobean tradition with richly molded geometric drawer fronts, substantial proportions and a deep, naturally aged patina. The warm oak has developed considerable character over two centuries, particularly across the broad top and deeply molded façade.
Four graduated tiers of drawers provide generous storage, each framed with strong geometric moldings characteristic of Jacobean design. Beaded horizontal moldings define the individual levels and give the façade its distinctive architectural rhythm. The chest rests upon traditional bun feet, completing its strong English profile.
The original brass hardware is particularly attractive, with decorative escutcheons and individual drop pulls adding a warm metallic accent against the dark oak. Together with the hand worked construction and beautifully preserved antique patina, these details give the chest the authenticity and character sought in early English furniture.
A fine antique English chest offering excellent storage, handsome Jacobean styling and the rich surface that can only develop through generations of use.
