19th Century French Henri II Neoclassical Flip-Top Game Table ~ Console represents a refined interpretation of the Renaissance style with boldly carved apron accented with full relief lions' heads on each corner with brass rings in their mouths.  Note also the unusual descending carved details on the sides.  Support is provided by finely turned and fluted legs and stretchers, allowing it to stand on its own when used as a console or hall table.  The top rotates 90 degrees, then flips open to create a splendid gaming surface, then closes up and tucks back against the wall to serve as a console until the next time one entertains.  Hand-crafted from solid oak with a felt playing surface that is still serviceable.
