Originally created for curing and storing olives, this 19th century Greek terracotta jar is a remarkable survivor of Mediterranean culinary life. Hand-thrown with an elongated ovoid form, rounded shoulders, and a rolled rim, the vessel retains the subtle horizontal markings of the potter’s hand. Its timeworn whitewashed surface reveals glimpses of warm terracotta beneath, creating an authentic patina shaped by generations of use.
