19th Century Cast Iron Umbrella Stand with Maritime Theme

19th Century Cast Iron Umbrella Stand with Maritime Theme depicts a wiry sailor dressed in 18th century garments holding onto a large ship's rope which forms the upper part of the stand.  The sailor is depicted atop a montage of maritime objects including an oar, anchor, chain and various items that appear to be cargo and supplies.  The pan below is also cast iron, and removable for cleaning, and rests in a frame that is beautifully contoured and formed with acanthus leaf bordering.  Such items were produced for the rising middle classes of the period, and came in a myriad of styles.  This particular one is the first one of its type we've seen in over three decades in the business.  Perfect for the lover of aquatic sports or the family with a maritime or naval history!
