19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Nightstand with Marble & Cane is a marvel of Belle Epoque flair!  Designed with a visually appealing oval shape, it features a marble top, marble shelf and marble floor, all cut from the same slab!  The marble has been surrounded by intricate classically inspired architecture that so enamored the court of Louis XVI.  Motifs include egg & dart, quatrefoil overlay, laurel wreath and garlands with foliate rosettes as accents.  An oval frame opening allows access to the middle and lower shelf, with rounded cane sides allowing a lightweight design that allows ambient light in for illumination.  Support is provided by four tapered and fluted legs.  The painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades which enhances the carved detail to perfection!
