19th Century French Renaissance Barley Twist Nightstand with Carrara Marble is a marvel of the cabinetmaker's art!  Crafted from solid, old-growth oak, it features a squared architecture that is enhanced by two protruding columns flanking the front facade, consisting of clockwise and counter-clockwise barley twist columns topped with plinth blocks carved with rosettes, and set upon a multi-tiered, fully carved base supported by large bun feet.  The columns connect to the top that follows the contour of the casework and is carved with a demilune foliate pattern.  The top trim in turn surrounds the Carrara marble top that provides a luxurious yet carefree surface.  Two drawers appear immediately under the marble top, both carved with lion's heads which serve as the drawer pulls, which are flanked by foliate flourishes.  The magnificent cabinet door below, however, showcases the wood sculptor's talents, with an elaborate framework surrounding a crest motif centered with a full relief acanthus rosette, with the crest surrounded by more foliate flourishes.  The door and drawers open to reveal capacious storage, making this wonderful selection as functional as it is wonderful to behold!
