Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Marble Top Nightstands are an intriguing design, with neoclassical excellence in abundance, yet light and airy in visual presence! Hand-crafted from fine walnut, each features a drawer casework with curved sides supported by four tapered and fluted legs that are rejoined together with a caned shelf below. Carved detail is amazing, with acanthus plumes in the place where rosettes normally appear, repeating egg trim, egg & dart molding, and Greek coin, with upturned acanthus fronds at the base of the columns. A single cast bronze pull accesses the drawer, and the tops are fitted with beautifully veined marble that features a cove bevel and follows the unusual contours of the casework. Excellent choices as end tables, as well as bedside companions!
