19th Century French Napoleon III Period Walnut Center Table with Original Carrara Marble is a magnificent representation of the era during which France's last monarch revived every French style since the origins of the Gothic design in the mid-12th century!  Utilizing indigenous, sumptuous French walnut, the artisans crafted a tailored apron upon which are mounted exquisite hand-carved floral and foliate sprays.  Support is provided by a generously sized urn-form pedestal, turned with lots of artistic detail, and mounted to a cylindrical base just below a gadrooned bordering upon which three elaborately scrolled and hand-sculpted legs emanate.  The legs feature corbel-like scrollwork with acanthus leaf and rose blossom themes, and are tipped with casters to make it easier to reposition the table according to one's plans for the evening.  The base also sports foliate flourish rosettes mounted between the legs for additional visual appeal.  On top, the original finely veined Carrara marble top exhibits "finger grooving" around the entire edge, designed to capture errant water that may leak out from the vessel with fresh flowers, protecting the sumptuous wood of the table, while providing a pleasing, softened edging.
