19th Century French Nickeled Brass Crucifix

This lovely 19th Century French Nickeled Brass Crucifix was embossed and cast in brass then given a nickel finish on the back and underside with an intriguing copper-gold finish on the figurative portion of the work.  The style indicates the transition between the Belle Epoque into the Art Nouveau period at the waning years of the 1800s.  The flared base features promontories that provide extra stability.  Rosettes with trefoils tip each point of the cross, with a particularly expressive Corpus used to evoke devotion.
