19th Century French Prie Dieu ~ Prayer Kneeler

19th Century French Prie Dieu ~ Prayer Kneeler is a more substantial example of the genre than those we usually find!  Hand-crafted from solid old-growth oak it features a generous kneeling area raised on a platform with molded cornerposts and flared feet, joined to the uprights with carved corbels depicting angels in glorious full relief.  The upper section is ergonomically angled and padded as well, and opens trunk-like to reveal storage for bibles or hymnals, and features a foliate flourish creating an apron suspended from the lower molding.  Although the original upholstery was of exceptional quality, it is recommended that the new owners replace it.
