19th Century French Renaissance Barley Twist Hunt Buffet is an unusual example of the breed, being almost square in dimension, and much narrower in width than typical pieces from the period.  Ideal for cozy niches or even as a bathroom vanity piece, it has been lavished with hand-carved sculpture across the entire facade in a timeless celebration of the Renaissance.  Utilizing dense, old-growth indigenous oak, the artisans topped the piece with a gadrooned edge interjected with acanthus plumes, presiding over the top drawer tier which depicts two fierce lions' heads as pulls, flanked by grapevine motif, and separated as well as flanked on each side by large rosettes, all hand-carved in glorious full relief.  The real show-stopper is underneath the drawers, where a pair of gamebirds feasting on wheat in the field appear in full relief, surrounded by natural foliate molded detail, and flanked on each side by clockwise and counter-clockwise barley twist columns.  The entire cabinet is set upon a bold base molding fitted with bun feet.  Doors and drawers open to reveal surprising storage for such a diminutive piece, which will surely and instantaneously endear itself to you and your family for generations to come!
