19th Century French Renaissance Buffet with Rounded Sides will command attention in any room in which it is placed!  Hand-sculpted from old growth oak, it features dimensions that deceive~ almost two feet deep from the wall yet with the broadly rounded sides, it makes a surprisingly minimal impact on the floorplan and traffic through the room.  Solid planks form the top, and are contoured and beveled to follow the lines of the casework below, which presents a classical architecture inspired by the ancient Greeks and Romans yet thoroughly embellished by the influence of the Renaissance.  Upper drawers are carved in fine relief, even the rounded side drawers, with foliates, scrolls and crest motifs, each centered with a finely detailed pendant pull.  All four drawers are framed by acanthus rosettes on the plinths, which in turn appear atop Doric capitals and tapered & fluted pilasters that provide framework for the lavishly carved door panels below.  The doors boast intricate frameworks with raised and beaded trim framing gorgeous neoclassical sculptures in full relief depicting urns bursting with fruit & flowers on the sides, and grapevines and thistle featured at the center panels.  A multi-tiered, boldly proportioned base molding caps off the work, with the entire affair supported by large bun feet.  Doors and drawers all open wide to reveal cavernous storage, making it as useful as it is incredible to behold!
