19th Century French Renaissance Hunt Buffet is a magnificent example of the breed, stretching seven and a half feet wide but with rounded sides to minimize its impact on your floor plan.  Crafted from hand-select, dense, old-growth oak, it features a beveled plank top immediately underneath which are the four spacious drawers, each carved with elongated egg patterns and separated by pyramidal plinth blocks, with turned wood pendant pulls.  The side drawers pivot out to allow easy of access.  Under the pyramidal plinths are three pilasters of neoclassical design that create a stately effect, leading the eye to the multi-tiered, massive base supported by bun feet.  The cabinet doors in between, however, are indisputable evidence of the talents of the wood sculptor who created them!  The main cabinet doors depict the results of successful hunting trips, with game in full relief bound by flowing ribbon on a background of fruit and foliates.  Each artwork is framed in a square raised panel adorned with shells above and below, and set within a cross-shaped framework with turned finials at each corner.  The side panels which follow the rounded contours of the casework, focus on bounty of the earth motifs with artistically rendered fruit and foliates in bold full relief.  Doors all open to reveal cavernous storage, especially in concert with the drawers.
