19th Century French Renaissance Hunt Confiturier ~ Cabinet is an intriguing adaptation of the style, crafted on a diminutive scale yet featuring all the masculine charm of its larger brethren. The gadrooned edge surrounds a nicely sized surface, and overlooks the drawer tier which is embellished with foliates in relief emanating out from the center where a pendant pull is situated. Flanked by boldly carved rosettes that appear over the corners, a tier of molding defines the boundary between the drawer and cabinet below. A lush sculpture of a grouse in the field has been rendered in lifelike form, set in a circular frame accented with foliates on each corner, then set within another frame carved to match the gadrooning around the top edge. A pair of clockwise and counter-clockwise barley twist columns create the cornerposts, leading the eye down to the multi-tiered base also carved with complementary bordering all around. Bun feet finish the exterior, and the cabinet & drawer open to reveal surprising storage for such a relatively small piece. Ideal as a bathroom vanity!
